Implementation Steps

EdCast provides comprehensive, event-based analytics that enable organizations to maximize ROI insights by leveraging the 4 primary categories of analysis that aid in decision making:

  • Descriptive Analysis: Understanding what happened

  • Diagnostic Analysis: Understanding what made it happen

  • Predictive Analysis: Understanding what is likely to happen

  • Prescriptive Analysis: Understanding what action to perform to make it happen

Each type of analysis contributes additional context when establishing a holistic view on organizational objectives and other common areas of focus such as:

Adoption

  • Overall Platform Adoption

  • Mobile VS Web Adoption

  • Feature Adoption

Engagement

  • Effectiveness of Content Strategy

  • Effectiveness of Audience Targeting Strategy

Compliance

  • Required Training

  • “Gaming the System” & Abuse Detection

Governance

  • User Management

  • Audit Logs

  • User Roles & Permissions

As an organization progresses from launching LXP through to influencing continued engagement, reporting interests will typically evolve.

There are 4 key stages that may cause a shift in focus relative to analytics leveraged for decision making:

Stage 1: Pre-Launch

Stage 2: Launch

Stage 3: 3+ Months Post-Launch

Stage 4: 1+ Year Post-Launch

Stage 1: Pre-Launch

As an organization works towards initial launch, the focus is primarily on a subset of use cases within Content Strategy, Audience Targeting Strategy, and User Management. During this stage, we can start to leverage Descriptive Analysis to validate early user and content data which at this stage will be mostly administrator driven.

Suggested Areas of Focus:

  • Validate User Account Details

  • Validate Channel Creation, Channel Roles, and Channel Content

  • Validate Group Creation, Group Membership, and Group Roles

  • Validate User Generated Content, Pathways, and Journeys

Stage 2: Launch

As an organization launches the LXP platform, new data will become available to begin contextualizing Adoption, Engagement, and Compliance analytics. During this stage, we can start to leverage Diagnostic Analysis along with Descriptive Analysis since activity is now mostly learner driven.

Suggested Areas of Focus:

  • Understand early trends for overall platform adoption and mobile VS web adoption

  • Understand what content is performing well and whether that contributes to your current content strategy and audience targeting strategy

  • Monitor assignment status and assignment progression for required learning

  • Establish a benchmark for learner behavior by viewing the top users’ activity trends to understand how they have engaged since launch and which types of activities they perform the most frequently

Stage 3: 3+ Months Post-Launch

As an organization accumulates 3+ months of learner activity data after launch, this will strengthen current analysis and open up initial opportunities for Predictive & Prescriptive Analysis since we now have enough data to start modeling future projections and validate behavior trends against initial assumptions.

Suggested Areas of Focus:

  • Apply forecasting models to predict the expected activity for future periods. EdGraph provides linear regression projection for all Timeline Trend reports by default.

  • Understand which types of activities are not performed as frequently or by larger collections of users. Consider promoting or leveraging these activities within upcoming engagement campaigns, such as a call to action that encourages commenting on content or sharing applicable content with other learners.

  • Validate your organization’s initial content decisions against the current trending search activity and your learners’ top skills/learning goals to highlight key topic areas that may not have been sourced or curated yet

  • Validate correlations between different collections of activities to reveal users who may be attempting to “game the system”. As an example, if you were to see that a learner clicked “Like” on more content than they had actually viewed or completed, this may suggest that their activity is disingenuous.

  • Leverage previous success stories captured since Stage 2 using Descriptive & Diagnostic analysis to begin creating Prescriptive analysis targeted for upcoming engagement campaigns or expanding roll-out & adoption.

Stage 4: 1+ Year Post-Launch

As an organization accumulates 1+ year of data after launch, this will establish an initial benchmark for annual trends and continue to strengthen all categories of decision-making analysis for our key areas of focus.

At this point, an organization will have accumulated enough data-driven success stories to understand how to strategically influence user behavior and encourage ongoing learner engagement by leveraging the many aspects of the EdCast LXP.

This is a good time to review how your organization is currently leveraging specific features typically associated with a high impact on overall engagement.
